LP Time-Lock Boost

Coming

Lock a position for weeks and earn extra rewards from a budget a creator or partner funds: reel-vaults' gauge module.

Not live yet: this runs in a reel-vaults module that is built and tested but not in the deployed build. The page describes it so integrators can see where it fits; details can change before it ships.

What is in the program today

Two pieces the boost builds on are already in the reel program:

  • Position locks. PositionLock locks a position's shares until a time, or for good (PERMANENT). A lock can only be extended, never shortened.
  • Locked positions keep earning. Fees settle through fee growth, so a locked position collects its fees whenever its owner likes, without touching principal.

So an LP can lock today and earn the pool's ordinary fees. The boost adds an extra reward for locking.

What is coming

Coming: the gauge module is built and tested in reel-vaults' source, not in the deployed build yet. It arrives with an upgrade at the same address.

The boost is a reward gauge beside one reel pool (PROGRAM.md §19, gauge):

  • An LP stakes a reel position in the gauge for a lock of 1 to 104 weeks, inside the gauge's own minimum and maximum.
  • Rewards accrue at a weight of shares × boost; the boost grows linearly with the lock length, up to the gauge's maximum (at most 3×).
  • Anyone funds it, in the pool's quote or base token. A tranche is spread evenly per second over the weeks the funder picks, up to 104.
  • The position keeps earning and paying out its ordinary LP fees while staked, and goes back to the staker when the lock ends.

Planning for it

  • The lock lives in the gauge: it doesn't set a reel PositionLock, and its authority never removes liquidity. A reel lock the position already has is kept and comes back with it.
  • Split a position first (PositionSplit) if you want to stake part of it; the new position inherits the source's lock.
  • Read Providing liquidity for how positions, locks and fee collection work now.
