Usage fee

Every swap pays a market block's builder, its backers, reel and a reserve.

Where it runs

Advisory

The pool's single add-on slot: one per pool.

Status on reel

In the program

In the reel program: bit 21 of PoolParams.blocks, frozen at PoolInit (PROGRAM.md §5). Publishing a market block needs Config.bond_mint ($REEL, later), which mainnet's Config doesn't set yet, so no block can be published, bonded or installed today and no backer has anything to claim.

Set by

You, at launch

Frozen in PoolParams at PoolInit; nobody can change it after.

What it does

The Hook Blocks Market block a pool installs at launch. Every swap pays the creator's chosen usage fee on the quote side, on top of pool fees, for the pool's life, even if the block's bond later goes.

How it works on reel

Every swap pays usage_pips into the USAGE bucket for the MarketBlock in adv[0]. BucketCollect splits it: builder builder_bps, backers backers_bps (into the block's backers' account; reel books each bond's earnings and reel-vaults' BackerPay pays them out), protocol 20%, reserve 10%. It installs only while the block is admitted and bonded at least Config.bond_floor[tier].

Named at launch: adv[0] MarketBlock

Fees and who's paid

Paid to

The builder and backers (70% together), reel 20%, the block's reserve 10%.

Protocol share

A fixed split set by the program, not the pool's protocol share.

Requires and can't be combined with

Worked example

A 0.5% usage fee with builder 45% and backers 25%: a 1 SOL buy pays 0.005 SOL; 0.00225 builder, 0.00125 backers, 0.001 reel, 0.0005 reserve.

Solana notes

Backers are paid by reel-vaults' payouts module (BackerPay), live.
